Dion Cupido and Bastiaan van Stenis at Lizamore & Associates, Johannesburg

Dion Cupido and Bastiaan van Stenis at Lizamore & Associates, Johannesburg

Dion Cupido spent the month of April at The Bag Factory Artists’ Studios in Newtown, Johannesburg completing his first residency in the City of Gold. This prestigious residency space has been a home for visual artistic practice since its inception in 1991 and prominent names in the international art world have accepted invitations to work here.

Cupido’s participation was used as an opportunity to prepare for his first solo exhibition in Johannesburg titled In your image which opens on Thursday 3 May at the Lizamore & Associates Gallery.

Also, on the bill that night with Lizamore & Associates, Bastiaan van Stenis will present his first solo exhibition in Johannesburg with a body of paintings titled Sometimes what happens.

Cupido’s edgy urban portraits and van Stenis’s quirky surrealism are both exceptional in their painterly skill and ability to tell a story. This is an exhibition that thoroughly deserves a visit.

The exhibition opens on 3 May 2018 @18:00 at Lizamore & Associates.

Address:155 Jan Smuts Ave, Parkwood, Johannesburg
