New exhibition by Catherine Ocholla: Barfly

New exhibition by Catherine Ocholla: Barfly

A solo exhibition by exciting artist Catherine Ocholla opens on Thursday 1 October at the Worldart gallery on Church Street.

Having proved herself as a painter of exceptional skill, Ocholla’s latest exhibition, titled Barfly, consists of a series of paintings capturing the characters and moments of happy hours across Cape Town. The title is borrowed from the 1987 movie about the life of poet Charles Bukowski.

“I tried to isolate random moments in public areas with the potential to take the viewer absolutely anywhere, the beauty being that each viewer will find a different story when looking at the same painting,” says Ocholla.

Barfly opens on October month’s First Thursday gallery night (1 October) and concludes on 29 October 2015.
