News and Events

A star is born
06 August 2010

Over the last few years, the young Michael Taylor has quietly yet steadily built up a loyal following among the younger section of serious art collectors around the country. With his solo show at Worldart last year sold out within the first few days, Cape Town can now look forward to his 2010 exhibition at the same gallery.

His trademark confident and skilful illustrative style with sometimes dark and mostly humorous undertones is still the essence of his paintings. The title of this body of work is The lion's den and features a subversive look at the common perceptions of horoscopic astrology. "These images are interpretations of human characteristics as seen specifically through the eyes of one character, the Leo" says Taylor.

Artist: Michael Taylor
Title of show: The lion's den
Venue: Worldart Gallery, 54 Church Street, Cape Town cbd
Dates: 28 August – 12 September 2010
