AIMEE LINDEQUE

AIMEE LINDEQUE (b. 1995) is a South African artist from Mpumalanga, currently based in Cape Town. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town, graduating in 2017 with a major in Sculpture.

Working primarily in painting and printmaking, Aimee's practice is characterised by strong draftsmanship, intricate line work, and a distinctly illustrative sensibility. Drawing inspiration from both natural and urban environments, her work explores the relationship between observation, memory, and place. While grounded in the landscapes and architecture that surround her, her compositions often incorporate subtle elements of imagination and storytelling.

Since graduating, Aimee has exhibited extensively in group exhibitions across South Africa, including exhibitions with White River Gallery, Candice Berman Gallery, Eclectica Contemporary, The Art Room, StateoftheART Gallery, Pretoria Art Museum, Artvark Gallery, Mullers Gallery, and WORLDART.

Her work has been recognised through selections for the Sasol New Signatures Top 100 exhibition, the Vuleka Art Competition, the Sakura 100th Anniversary Art Competition in Japan and one of the ten finalists of the WORLDART10 competition. In 2025, she presented her first solo exhibition at the AVA Gallery. Working from SideTrack Studios in Salt River, her recent practice has increasingly focused on themes of place, solitude, and the experience of moving through both natural and built environments, using careful observation and detailed mark-making to capture moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
