ALEXIS PRELLER EXHIBITION AT OUDTSHOORN

Worldart has just returned from Oudtshoorn where it hosted an exhibition of paintings by the artist Alexis Preller (1911 – 1978). The show curated by Charl Bezuidenhout was warmly received by lovers of his art who appreciated the rare opportunity to view the twelve paintings on display.

The theme was Alexis and Africa and was decided on to explore and show the special relationship he had with Africa. Preller was extremely aware of Africa’s inherent spiritual beauty and tried to show his interpretation of that to the world through his art. Many people also believe that he was South Africa’s most talented surrealist painter.
