Black Koki is known for murals and illustration work with an inquisitive and adventurous nature. He is busy and restless and entertains with an independent DIY approach to his art.

Laugh now, cry later is the title of his first solo exhibition that will be shown at the Worldart gallery. Unlike previous exhibitions which consisted mostly of detailed illustrations, this body of work consists of bigger abstract paintings made using ink, acrylic and spray paint. He is a skilled visual practitioner and this makes his focus on abstraction an event worth seeing.

The exhibition opens on 7 May, which coincides with this month’s First Thursdays evening when all the galleries in Cape Town’s cbd stay open till 9pm and thousands of people mingle from gallery to gallery. Make sure you don’t miss this one.

The exhibition concludes on Friday May 29.
