WELCOME TO BANANIA BY VUSI BEAUCHAMP

A solo exhibition at the Worldart gallery (54 Church Street, Cape Town) from 3 – 31 August 2017.

For the second month in a row, the Worldart gallery in Cape Town will host a solo exhibition by a Johannesburg based artist. Opening on First Thursday, Vusi Beauchamp will be featured at the gallery for the month of August.

Beauchamp, who lists Anton Kannemeyer and Jean-Michel Basquiat as influences and whose achievements include an invitation to exhibit at the Pretoria Art Museum (2015) and an ABSA L’Atelier finalist nomination (2005), creates satirical works laden with humour and social critique. He also engages with the subject of typical stereotyping by the media of our country’s politics and politicians.

In this vein, the Cape Town exhibition will be titled Welcome to Banania and will consist of paintings and works on paper.

Vusi Beauchamp (b. 1979) lives and works in Johannesburg.
