Salon 104, a collective of Cape Town based artists, is taking over the first floor of WORLDART gallery for a weekend to show their work and host events. Titled Salt and Stone, the exhibition features paintings and sculpture, and opens on Thursday evening with an opening speech by Lizelle Kilbourn. The programme continues with a walkabout on Friday at 11am, a panel discussion on Saturday at 10am led by Amanda Botha and Gerhard Marx, and a final walkabout on Sunday at 11am, with the gallery open until 2pm.

“The work reflects our restless search for belonging in an unsettled world. With our backs to the mountain and our hearts to the sea, we hanker for mooring – for a place where we are homed. Against a backdrop of uncertainty, the work turns to the elemental and enduring: stone beneath our feat, sky above, and the traces of those who have walked before us. In the spaces between pavers, between breaths, we are reminded of our connection to place, one another, and the earth. Before language, we love. Stone below. Sky above.” – Studio 104
