PREKARIA
a solo exhibition by Kilmany-Jo Liversage
4 - 20 December 2025
PREKARIA | Acrylic, aerosol spray and marker on canvas | 150cm x 150cm.
WORLDART is pleased to present the Cape Town instalment of Kilmany-Jo Liversage’s solo exhibition, PREKARIA, following its museum debut at the Oliewenhuis Art Museum in Bloemfontein.
This marks her first solo exhibition in Cape Town since 2024 and introduces a new body of work in her distinctive style, which merges street-art energy with contemporary portraiture.
Having been shown in a museum context, these works now carry the weight of institutional recognition — a factor that strengthens their provenance and affirms their cultural and artistic relevance. For collectors, owning a work that has featured in a museum exhibition not only enriches its narrative, but may also contribute to its long-term value.
The title PREKARIA draws on the word “precarious,” evoking the tension inherent in uncertainty and change. Liversage captures this through layered mark-making and mixed media that highlight the pull between control and chaos, tradition and street culture, portraiture and the contemporary urban pulse.
This new series is executed with conviction. At its core lies a pointed commentary on gender equality and representation. Her portraits — often of women drawn from contemporary culture — are not passive subjects but commanding presences. They meet the viewer’s gaze. They occupy space unapologetically. By elevating figures from the everyday into icons, Liversage questions long-standing hierarchies of visibility and value. Her paintings assert agency: beauty that refuses to be merely decorative; femininity that refuses to be quiet.
PREKARIA will be on show at WORLDART from 4–20 December 2025.
