(WHAT I MEANT TO SAY)

a solo exhibition by Lona Ndzimande

5 - 26 March 2026

WORLDART is pleased to present “(What I meant to say)” , a solo exhibition by WORLDART10 competition winner Lona Ndzimande, opening Thursday during Cape Town’s monthly First Thursdays event, which takes place on the first Thursday of every month.

Ndzimande distinguished herself in the WORLDART10 competition through the strength and clarity of her conceptual approach. Her exhibition engages directly with the silences and constraints traditionally imposed on Black women, by culture, by society, and by norms that have long sought to define rather than listen. Through a disciplined yet expressive interplay of portraiture, collage, and material surface, her figures hold both vulnerability and agency.

This solo presentation offers a concentrated view of a practice grounded in both technical precision and conceptual depth.

First Thursdays provides an accessible and dynamic platform for audiences to encounter the work. The extended hours create space for meaningful engagement within Cape Town’s cultural district.

The exhibition will remain on view until 26 March 2026.
