KEONAH NYEMBE

KEONAH NYEMBE (b. 2002) is a Johannesburg based visual artists driven by a deep curiosity about the human experience and our relationship with the natural world. Her work explores the complexities of identity, memory and the environment, often challenging conventional notions of reality.

Keonah's main artistic focus is to depict fluid speculative environments that morph into otherworldly landscapes. The work is guided by a curiosity regarding the constantly changing and evolving state of natural materials, ranging from inner workings of plant root systems (somatic systems) to broader external environments.

As a printmaker, she creates monotypes that extend her inquiry into ecological art and post-humanist theory, proposing a more fluid and interconnected understanding of our world where the boundaries between observer and observed, human and non-human, are continually redefined.
