Most observers of art are familiar with Gavin Rain’s arrangements of colourful dots that surprise by morphing into portraits of iconic people when they step back or look at the paintings through the camera on their cell phones. This style of painting has won Rain accolades the world over with galleries in major cities regularly showing his paintings at exhibitions and art fairs.

As a result he has not had a solo exhibition in South Africa since 2009 and WORLDART is pleased to host his first since then at its gallery in Cape Town. The exhibition will open on Thursday 3 October and will run through to 31 October 2019. Years of marrying art and mathematics has led to Rain perfecting and expanding his technique and visitors can expect new designs and formations. It will also be the launch of a new range of screen prints produced in conjunction with Master Printmaker and founder of Warren Editions, Zhané Warren. All this while staying true to the original idea; that one should step back to see the bigger picture. In art as in life.
